*Profile* Wakeboarder Lauren Harf

the best part about Wakeboarding?
It is so much fun to be on the boat with your
friends enjoying the day.
fav.trick? I love the way spins look.
What trick are you working on?
off axis spins, backside three sixty, and tootsie rolls.

Where is your fav. place to ride?
My backyard, Lake Willis. I wish every competition was in my backyard.

what are you reading now? The Left Behind series. I am only on the first book but it is great so far.

What is your favorite food?
I love sushi and anything for breakfast.

Pets?
I have four! Mia, Kelly, and Figaro are my cats. I also have a dog Bear. I think he gets more
coverage in magazines and videos than I do!

Do you warm up before riding? I usually work out, then ride. When I work out in the morning it rejuvinates me for the day.

How old are you? 18
Where did you grow up? I was born in southern California but I have lived in Florida most of my life.
Are you in school? I am currently in college but I'm taking a semester off to get ready for the tour season.
When did you start Wakeboarding?
About four years ago. My dad used to take us surfing every weekend but then we got a boat and we moved to a lake and the beach just became so far to
drive when we had a lake in our backyard.
What do you do to train?
Emily Copeland and I live together so we train together. We do some cardio in the gym, take hip hop classes, and ride everyday. When we ride we say we have to try a new trick every set an we hold each other accountable for it.

How did you meet your first sponsor? Surf Expo. There is a trade show each year for buyers and athletes and that is where it is easiest to get in touch with team managers of the companies.
Who do you wish would sponsor you? I think it would be cool to hook up with a mainstream product that is geared toward women even if it was a shampoo company or something.
Who inspires you? In my daily life my parents are a huge driving force. Their spiritual relationship has helped me develop mine own.
In terms of wakeboarding anyone inspires me that is excited about the sport. It pumps me up to watch someone land a new trick or a first timer do really well. It reminds me why I love this sport. watching guys ride is really an awesome thing. I know that eventually I will be able to do the same tricks they are doing.
Which competition do you look forward to most? World's because it is in Southern California which is where my whole extended family lives.
What advice do you have for girls who are just learning to ride?
Have fun
with it & spend time on the water. The more time you spend out behind the boat the more comfortable you will be.
How do you give yourself a boost when you are feeling nervous or down?
Take a deep breath and give my worries up to my spritual guider. I constantly have to remind myself of the bigger picture. Wakeboarding is not the end all.
